ISP Talk is a Forum
dedicated to the
Small Internet Service Provider in the USA.
Though ISP owners from other countries are
welcome also.
The forum is private and is password
protected. The public is not allowed in on our private discussions and
the behind the scenes details of how the ISP
business works.
Why join our discussion group? We as
small ISP owners are not each others competition,
our real competition is the big companies
such as AOL Earthlink etc.
In our local area as small ISP owners we
were forced to come together as a group
because we provide fiber to the home in 2
local counties through 2 local public
utility districts. The PUD's as we call them
would only deal with us as a group.
We started a lunch time discussion group
after the PUD meetings and discovered how
enjoyable it was to talk with others who
knew what we were talking about, were not
bored talking tech and that were going
through everything that we were with
equipment, deadbeat customers and everything
else that comes up when running a
"Small" or "Micro" ISP
with a few hundred to a few thousand
customers.
There are a lot of mistakes to be made in
this business. If I can help any new or
existing ISP owners to not fall into these
traps or make the same mistakes that I did
well, why shouldn't I. Because I spend so
much time setting behind the computer and in
the office dealing with the business I have
few friend outside of this business and
family. Lots of my friends come
from within the computer world and communicate
with me using the computer. Why fight it.
So here we go with this website. Join me and
everyone else who participates.
We will discuss every possible aspect of
being in this business no-holds-barred and
everything goes. Things that are vital to
running a small ISP such as what really
works and what not to waste your money on
for advertising. What works for technical
aspects of this business. How to deal with
customers for almost every problem that
comes up.
Are you ready for this? You
may not believe it but I now have a way to
guarantee that you do not ever lose money
from another deadbeat customer who does not
pay on time. I swear it works every single
time and this is not a joke it's the real
deal from an ISP owner in the business for 5
yrs and who has lost thousands of $$ from
none paying jerks. NEVER AGAIN will I lose a
single dime! How about you? I ask for

To join this group you will need to pass
these simple requirements. You must really
own an ISP business. You must have an ISP
website, You must be able to receive email
from the account webmaster@your-isp-name.com
and you must provide a business phone number
that is listed with the phone company/yellow
pages and is answered as your business name.
Everything will be verified.
Please do not
ask to join if you are just thinking of
starting an ISP. This website does not exist
to help you make that decision. Go into
another type of business, there are far too
many ISPs now in most areas and the market
share is too small for another little ISP in
your area. I suggest web hosting instead as
the profits are higher per customer and the
support calls fewer.
